Paula Badosa hushes injury concerns after offering positive update following pictures posted back in hospital

Paula Badosa was starting to find a bit of form on court once more in a fruitful period following Wimbledon. This comes after a period of injuries and consistent setbacks which saw her plummet down the order, following a mini-rejuvenation her fans are back into panic following an Instagram post with pictures of her back in hospital. However, the 28-year-old has confirmed that it is nothing serious, just a small procedure before heading out to the USA.

Whilst there is a lack of further information, it is a cause for concern for tennis fans who have been accustomed to seeing these types of stories by now due to the regular nature of it surrounding the Spaniard.

A former World No.2, Badosa could not catch a break with injuries. A run to the Australian Open semi-finals back in 2025 showed what she is capable of but in truth it has not been showcased enough with her appearances on court becoming less and less regular.

Her recent turnaround in form has been a welcoming sight, especially for Badosa who was getting used to that winning feeling again on court. Nevertheless, her latest setback may have just been confirmed with a post on Instagram.

She posted 15 pictures which ranged from her spending time on a boat and with other people in her life to more serious ones of her in the hospital. The caption read: "Just a little life update." No other information was released about the possible injury and whether she is sidelined for a period of time once more.

Fans had reasons to be worried based off her prior problems, but this time it was not serious. Responding to the news, Badosa wrote: Hi everyone. If you were wondering about the photos from yesterday, I had to undergo a small medical procedure that I'd been putting off for some time, and I needed to take a short break to recover properly. I am happy to say I'm back training now and really looking forward to competing again. See you all ever soon in the US!"

If this is a serious medical problem, then it has come at a dreadful time. After that forementioned Australian Open run last year, her time on court has been patchy and sparse. A chronic lower back problem has been her biggest obstacle with it constantly giving her trouble and pain on court.

Along with that, a severe tear in her right/left hip labrum which was diagnosed last year also added to the back pain in a negative manner. Her right ankle is also a point of concern along with flare ups with other parts of her body.

Tennis is such a physically demanding sport with all muscles needing to be in use. For someone like Badosa, that just has not been possible. Or at least until recently.

Following a first round exit at Wimbledon, in which she led 5-2 in the final set against Emma Navarro, Badosa made the trip to Sweden to compete in the WTA 125 event in Bastad. She did not drop a set in the whole tournament, defeating the likes of Emiliana Arango and Yulia Putintseva before taking down Simona Waltert to win a first title since the 2024 Washington Open.

"This one means more than a trophy… thanks to everyone for the support I get through this journey," she wrote after the match. She made it nine wins in a row to reach the Iasi Open final, but was forced to retire while 6-4, 4-0 down against Maya Sherif.

The heavy schedule had caught up to her with this many matches being played in a short space of time an almost weird sensation. This did not stop her as she was back up and raring to goat the Hamburg Open. While this time she did not retire, it was again an inform Sherif who took her down in the quarter-finals.

She has her sights next set on the US Open. The 2024 quarter-finalist was forced to pull out of it last year in a heart-breaking turn as she started to plummet down the rankings, ending up outside the top 100. Now back in it thanks to a purple patch, she will hope to soon be back in action at Flushing Meadows and to showcase her skills on the court again.
