World number one Poland’s
Iga Swiatek has mysteriously appeared
wearing a tape on her mouth while practising ahead of the Canadian Open.
The 22-year-old is coming fresh after winning a WTA title in
her hometown and started preparing for the upcoming event.
In pictures that appeared on social media, Swiatek was wearing
a tape on her mouth. It is not clear why she was wearing that.
Some social media
users believe that it might be down to her finding a way to increase her nasal
breathing which is often considered good for enhancing the performance of athletes.
Swiatek will be hoping to continue her good form after winning
the Warsaw Open by beating Germany’s Laura Siegemund in straight sets in the
final with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
The upcoming Canadian Open, where the Warsaw-born will play
her first match on Tuesday, 08 August, will be a perfect platform for the
top-seeded player to prepare for the last Grand Slam of the year.
Swiatek will be defending her crown at the US Open as she
won the title in 2022 after beating Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in the final in
straight sets with a score of 6-2, 7-6.
