Following Petra Kvitova's wedding, several fellow tennis players congratulated her, including Iga Swiatek, Angelique Kerber, and Kim Clijsters.
The 2-time
Grand Slam champion tied the knot with her boyfriend and coach, Jiri Vanek, on
Sunday, delighting tennis fans around the world.
Vanek has
been coaching the World No. 8 since 2016. He and Kvitova didn't start dating
until the early summer of 2021, after which the couple announced their
engagement on social media in July last year.
A year
later, the couple shared pictures of their wedding day, which took place at a
luxury resort on the outskirts of Prague, attended only by their closest
people. Among the guests was Barbora Strycova, a longtime friend and colleague
of Petra Kvitova.
On social
media, Kvitova shared photos of her wedding day.
“Mr and Mrs. 22.7.2023.”
Petra
Kvitova's social media post received numerous messages from her colleagues. The
World No. 1, Iga Swiatek, commented with a heart-eyed emoji:
“Congratulations!
I'm happy for you,” Swiatek wrote.
Former
world No. 1, Angelique Kerber, also had words for Kvitova.
"Congrats,"
Kerber commented.
The
American tennis legend, Billie Jean King, also had words for the 33-year-old
Czech player, including a clapping hands emoji.
“Congratulations!”
Through
Twitter, the Belgian tennis star Kim Clijsters congratulated Kvitova, and she
was joined by the recent Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur, who is also married to
her coach:
Several
other tennis personalities also joined in the congratulations with a series of
emojis, including Harriet Dart, Carla Suarez Navarro, Elena Vessnina, Yanina
Wickmayer, and Czech players Barbora Strycova, Jiri Lehecka, and Magdalena
Rybarikova, among several others.
Currently
ranked as the World No. 8, Kvitova has been in excellent form, recently
clinching the title at the Grass Court Championships Berlin and also securing
victory at the Miami Open in April, where she defeated Elena Rybakina in the
final.
In the race
to the WTA Finals, Kvitova sits in the seventh position, and remarkably, there
are three Czech tennis players among the top performers of the year. This
includes the recent Wimbledon champion, Marketa Vondrousova, and the French
Open finalist, Karolina Muchova.
