World number one
Iga Swiatek has revealed that she received a
handwritten note from the famous singer Taylor Swift.
The 22-year-old has been a big fan of the famous American singer
and has been very public about her admiration for her.
Swiatek, during a press conference earlier this season, expressed her desire to watch Swift perform live in Santiago Bernabeu,
the home of Spanish and European champion Real Madrid.
It is not clear whether she could do that, but in a post on her official account on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — she revealed that she attended her show in Anfield and received a handwritten note from Swift.
"I'm dead. Yes, I cried many times during the show.
Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing, Taylor Swift," she wrote.
Swiatek is currently regarded as the best player in the women’s singles category. She once again stamped her authority
after winning the French Open 2024.
The reigning world number one defeated Italy’s Jasmine Paolini
in the final in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Iga Swiatek recently lifted the French Open for the fourth time.
It was Swiatek’s third consecutive French Open title. She won
the 2022 edition by beating America’s Coco Gauff in straight sets with a score
of 6-1, 6-3.
Last year, the Warsaw-born star defeated Karolína Muchova in
the final, scoring 6–2, 5–7, 6–4 to lift the title at the Roland Garros.
Swiatek is having a fabulous season on the court. After
starting slowly in the Australian Open, where she was knocked out in the round after
losing to Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4,
the world number one has been simply unstoppable on the court.
Since that defeat, Swiatek has played in the semifinal or beyond
in six of the seven events leading up to the French Open. She has lifted the title four times.
