Jelena Ostapenko had a pretty interesting career so far. After breaking to TOP 100 in 2015, and ending 2016 in TOP 50, she managed to win her first Grand Slam title in 2017. What's more, she started Roland Garros as an unseeded player and surprised the whole tennis world.
In the first round, Ostapenko defeated Chirico in three sets. Then, she outplayed Puig, Tsurenko and Stosur to reach the quarterfinals. Jelena's journey at the Roland Garros continued after defeated Caroline Wozniacki and Timea Bacsinszky to reach the final.
There, she faced the third-seeded Simona Halep. Osapenko outplayed Halep in three sets to win her first and only Grand Slam title so far. One year later, Ostapenko climbed her career-high 5th place in the WTA Ranking. Now, she sits on the 41st place and can strike anytime again.
