Video: Ashleigh Barty returns to tennis court with newborn son, engages in practice session

Former World No.1 Ashleigh Barty took to the tennis courts this week, making it the first time the Australian star had stepped on a tennis court since becoming a mother.

The 27-year old retired from the sport in March, 2022, before getting married to fiancé, Australian professional golfer Garry Kissick in July of the same year. The couple welcomed their first child, Hayden on July 4, 2023 after announcing they were expecting earlier in January.

The three-time Grand Slam champion took to social media to share some footage of herself hitting some groundstrokes on a tennis court, accompanied by her son. Hayden, who was dressed in a tennis-themed onesie and equipped with a miniature racquet, seemed more interested in taking a nap than watching his mother play.

"Back to red ball 🤨 Coaches seemed happy enough 👌🏽 Spectator just enjoyed a snooze in the shade 💚💜," she captioned her Instagram post.
