A few fans just screamed & cheered at the top of their lungs when Daria Kasatkina hit a double fault against Elena Rybakina. It’s past 1:00 a.m. Both women are exhausted. This behavior is as pathetic as it gets.
The tennis world witnessed a bizarre scene during the Omnium Banque National Canadian Open in Montreal.
A fan screamed at the top of their lungs in the quarterfinal of the event between Elena Rybakina and Daria Kasatkina.
The scream was so loud that it was recorded on camera. Users on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, called the behaviour ‘pathetic’.
The world number four eventually managed to come out on top against the young Russian player with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 7-6.
The victory was an important one for Rybakina as she has recently lost the third spot in the WTA rankings which must’ve been a hard pill to swallow.
Rybakina will be hoping that she will be able to take the winning momentum into the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year which is set to begin in less than 20 days in New York.
The Moscow-born does not have a great record while playing at the US Open as it remains the only mega-event where she has never played in the quarterfinal or beyond.
Her best outing was reaching the third round in 2021 where she was defeated by Romania’s Simona Halep with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
