"Was very emotional" says Giorgi on WTA 1000 Montreal win

Camila Giorgi won her biggest trophy in Montreal yesterday and after the match, the Italian shared some of her emotions.

Giorgi played sensational tennis all week long in Montreal winning the event in the end. It was the biggest achievment of her caeer and the 29 year old was overwhelmed by emootions shortly after the match concluded. A very stoic player usually, Giorgi was seen struggling to hold it in. Asked about it afterwards she said:

“I really think I was very emotional inside. Of course, I'm not the one that shows a lot. Of course, it's just amazing. I'm very happy for what I did this week."

For Giorgi, this has been a culmination of many years of work and sacrifice. It is also something she showed earlier she could do but it never quite worked out. After a strong showing in Tokyo, it finally clicked in Montreal. On the whole journey she said:

“I think this comes with all the work I been doing with my father. Of course, he's my coach. So I think all the work we've been putting together through all these years. I think one day I was sure and he was sure that can come in many period because I was playing very good actually. I was playing very high level already few months ago.”
