"We must not stay silent" - Serena Williams speaks out on Shuai Peng

Serena Williams is the latest player to express deep concern over the whereabouts and safety of Chinese tennis player Shuai Peng.

The story is a developing one where the tennis community is trying to find out any valuable information about the whereabouts of Shuai Peng. The Chinese tennis player's whereabouts are in question after she went dark on social media. The whole situation comes after she accused a former high-ranking government official of sexual assault.

Peng is supposedly safe after sending an e-mail to WTA chief Simon where she said she is safe. The WTA was not satisfied with that response and urged China to disclose the situation of the tennis player. Serena Williams joined in by writing on Twitter:

“I am devastated and shocked to hear about the news of my peer, Peng Shuai. I hope she is safe and found as soon as possible. This must be investigated and we must not stay silent. Sending love to her and her family during this incredibly difficult time. #whereispengshuai”

Williams is not the only one with ATP and WTA stars sharing messages of support and demanding answers on social media all day long. So far no response has come from China and the official whereabouts of the players are still unknown.
