"Whenever I play her, there's always some good points" - Gauff on Rome rematch with Sakkari

Coco Gauff booked her spot in the round of 16 at the Internazionali BNL D'Italia on Wednesday, and is set to face fourth seed Maria Sakkari in a rematch from their encounter in the second round last year.

Gauff brushed past compatriot Madison Brengle 6-2 6-4 to reach the round of 16, and the American is hoping her showdown with Sakkari will help ignite her clay-court season like it did last year.

"Playing [Sakkari here] last year definitely gave me a lot of confidence," Gauff said. "That was definitely the match that I think kind of set up my confidence for the clay season. This match, regardless of the result, as long as I put up my best fight, I think I'm going to be happy."

Gauff prevailed in a three-setter against her Greek opponent last year in Rome, before eventually falling in the semifinals.

"I'm super excited for the match because I feel like whenever I play her, there's always some good points," added the 15th seed. "I'm going to be ready to run a lot because she hits some big balls, but I think it's going to be a good one."
