The 2021 Swiss Indoors Basel is officially cancelled for the 2nd year in a row due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 Swiss Indoors Basel is an ATP 500 event that usually has a strong field of play headlined by Roger Federer. It is an indoor event played on hard courts as one of the final events ahead of the Tour Finals. The last time it was held, in 2019, Roger Federer won the title.
The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the global pandemic and now it has been officially cancelled in 2021 as well. It is the 2nd cancellation in two years because of the pandemic as several countries continue to struggle with rising case numbers and a low percentage of vaccination.
Switzerland, as a rather conservative country, most likely does not want to do anything to increase the risk of spreading the virus unnecessary. The event has not yet released a statement on the matter so the situation is developing. Follow us to find out the newest tennis news and stay up to date.
