The 2022 ATP season kicks off with several events in Australia, with the ATP Adelaide International 1 being one of the warm-up events for the Australian Open.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Adelaide is hosting two ATP 250 events during the 2022 Australian summer. The first is the Adelaide International 1, to be played from 3-9 January, and will feature a prize pool of $600,000.
This event was first held in Adelaide in 2020, when it was won by Andrey Rublev. Last year, because of the pandemic, it was temporarily moved to Melbourne, where Jannik Sinner lifted the trophy. Although Sinner will not be defending his title at this edition, the tournament will not be lacking star power as it features the likes of Gael Monfils, Karen Khachanov and Marin Cilic.
