Although he played a truncated 2021 season due to the Covid pandemic and injury,
Nick Kyrgios is full of confidence as the new season approaches.
The Australian appears determined and focused on succeeding in the sport that he shares a love-hate relationship with, although he admits he no longer takes it as seriously as he did in the past.
“When I’m out there I want to win, I want to put on a show,” said Kyrgios in an interview with Nine News Australia.
“But at the same time I don’t carry that weight as in like if I lose a tennis match it’s just a tennis match in my eyes now. It’s (my) perspective of things.”
The 26-year old has not played since September of this year, but he doesn’t think this puts him at a disadvantage as he revealed that he feels he “can beat anyone.”
The Cranberra resident is due to kick off his season at the Melbourne Summer Set next week, instead of the Brisbane International as planned as that tournament has been cancelled due to Covid-19. The
Australian Open begins on January 17, 2022.
