The 2022 Barcelona Open won't have Rafael Nadal back to defend his trophy from last year but the event still drew a rather strong field headlined by Tsitsipas and Ruud.
The Barcelona Open is a longstanding ATP 500 event on clay that always draws a very strong field of players. The popularity of the event has always helped the appearance of Rafael Nadal who never misses the event unless he has to. Well in 2022 he has to due to a rib fracture sustained in Indian Wells that has kept him out ever since.
Nonetheless, we have a strong field headlined by last year's finalist Tsitsipas who has a 1st round BYE. In the 2nd round, he will face either Ivashka or Martinez. 2nd seed Ruud also has a BYE and he will face either Nakashima or a qualifier in round 2.
Other seeds include Felix Auger-Aliassime who also has a BYE and he will face either Korda or a qualifier in round 2. Cameron Norrie is the 4th seed and he will face either Mannarino or a qualifier in round two. Carlos Alcaraz will also play at this event and he will look to wash away the sorrows of Monaco.
