2023 Rome Open Men's Final Preview: Rune v Medvedev

The Rome Open final will be contested by Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune giving the Russian a chance to avenge his loss to Rune at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

The two best players at the Rome Open this year were Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune. It will be their second matchup as the first one was won by Holger Rune recently at the Monte-Carlo Masters 6-3 6-4. It was a heated clash with both players showing their typical selves. Medvedev was very comical and rushed a lot while Rune was very passionate clashing with the crowd more than once.

You can expect some of that fire on Sunday when they play in front of the very passionate Italian crowd. Expect a lot of great rallies, long rallies and probably a clash with the crowd by one player. Or both. We might even see some skirmishes with the umpire. Anything goes in this matchup but most of all be ready for some great tennis.

Rune has been spectacular on clay this year losing to Rublev in the Monte-Carlo final but it was a match he should have won having been up a break in the final set of the match. Medvedev has proved himself as a very good tennis player on clay but there are ways you can hurt him on this surface.
