Rome Open

The Rome Open also known as the Internazionali BNL d'Italia Rome for sponsorship reasons, also known as the Rome Masters, is a professional tennis tournament held annually in Rome, Italy.

The tournament is part of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 for men and the WTA Premier 5 for women, making it one of the most prestigious events on the tennis calendar.

It will take place between May 8-21, 2023 this year with Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek currently the defending champions. It will also be the first year that it will be expanded to two weeks.

The first edition of the Italian Open was held in 1930 and the tournament has since become a significant event in the tennis world. It is traditionally held in May each year, in the lead-up to the French Open, which is the second Grand Slam of the season.

The tournament takes place at the Foro Italico, a sports complex in Rome that was originally built in the 1920s. The Foro Italico has several tennis courts, including the Center Court, which can seat up to 10,400 spectators. The Center Court is known for its unique design, featuring a sunken playing surface surrounded by stands that rise up around it.

Over the years, many of the world's top tennis players have competed at the Rome Masters, including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Serena Williams, and Maria Sharapova. The tournament has a rich history and has produced many memorable matches and moments.
