US Open ATP 2026: Results, Preview, Draw, Entry List, History and Predictions

The US Open is due to take place between August 30 - September 13, 2026 and on the ATP side, it will see Carlos Alcaraz as the defending champion albeit there are doubts about the big names.
Jannik Sinner will be the favourite for the title as a result with Alcaraz not playing for a number of months. But Sinner himself has been a doubt with Alexander Zverev the top seed in most tournaments in the run-up.
During the Canadian Open, Sinner and Alcaraz haven't played. Others involved include Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alex de Minaur, Ben Shelton, Novak Djokovic.
Preview Day Fifteen
The climax of this year's US Open is upon us. Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton weathered the storm over the last two weeks in New York and have set up what is an alluring final clash.
Zverev in Grand Slam finals is becoming a common theme, with this being the third one on the spin. He can double his major tally and right the wrongs of that famous heartbreak in 2020 with just one more win. He reacted brilliantly to those brace of five-set contests at the start of the event, not dropping a set since as he closes in on more major glory.
This is all new for Shelton. He got the better of fellow countryman Frances Tiafoe to confirm his spot in the final and will be confident that he can secure a huge breakthrough on home soil. The eighth seed has gone up the gears as the tournament prolonged, notably taking down the reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz in a statement quarter-final win that puts him in good nick for this upcoming final.
The pair have played each other five times, and all five times the German has come out on top. It is an ominous set of results for the 23-year-old with just two sets won in that time. However, this is their first matchup in 2026, a fresh chance for Shelton to banish his prior devils against Zverev.

I see Zverev winning it. He has pounced before in France and with no Sinner and Alcaraz a question mark. I see him claiming it.

The men's draw looks particularly open this year, with the biggest question surrounding the level Carlos Alcaraz can produce as the defending champion but without any competitive rhythm. With the field so closely matched, I find it difficult to see him maintaining his best level for several weeks, particularly if he faces difficult opponents early or is dragged into long matches before he has fully settled into the tournament.
I am going for a surprise: Arthur Fils to win his first Grand Slam title and finally establish himself as a genuine threat to Sinner and Alcaraz over the next few years. Mentally, the Frenchman has shown that he can handle pressure and perform on the biggest stages, and he arrives full of confidence after winning Cincinnati. If he is physically fit, there are very few players who can comfortably beat him in a best-of-five match.
Novak Djokovic is another name we cannot leave out, and he has another opportunity to make a deep run if he gets a favorable draw. If Djokovic can avoid overexerting himself in the early rounds, he could once again go for the miracle in Flushing Meadows. I would also add Ben Shelton and Rafael Jodar to the equation. I can see both going deep, but I still have doubts about whether they would be ready to seize the opportunity if they reach a potential semifinal or even final.

- WTA has been unfairly ignoring Elena ever since Wimbledon. Arguably biased against her. Same with the most major sponsors whom normally pounce on the Wimbledon Winners for sponsorship. Didn't happen. Her unfair treatment was always in Lena's subconcious; how she was largely ignored after Wimbledon. Her sister helped her a lot during that period. Next came illnesses and minor injury. A lot of time was lost, and physical (mental?) issues were frequent, as she fought through the absurdiy and general nonsense brought-on by her coach/partner. He was a Loser then, he's a Loser still. Although he has lowered his attitude, volume, and non-stop yapping from the box since he wore the organizations out with his non-stop legal letters begging for mercy and ultimately fully reinstated.
