2024 Monte-Carlo Masters Wednesday SCHEDULE and PREVIEW featuring Stefanos TSITSIPAS, Holger RUNE, and Jannik SINNER - KORDA

The schedule has been confirmed ahead of Wednesday at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters, with Jannik Sinner ready for his debut. Our preview looks ahead to the third day at the Monte-Carlo Masters as the latest ATP 1000 continues, with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, and Daniil Medvedev also involved.

Jannik Sinner aims to maintain his streak in the clay swing

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner will headline a stellar match as the second seed of the tournament. The Italian is currently in the best form of his career with a 22-1 record in 2024. Although Sinner has yet to fully showcase his talents on clay, he demonstrated excellent form in Monte-Carlo last year, reaching the tournament's semifinals.

The clay swing provides the perfect opportunity for Sinner to close the gap with Novak Djokovic for the world No. 1 spot. This week, he defends 360 out of the 585 points available throughout the clay swing, while Djokovic defends a total of 2315 points and Carlos Alcaraz 2265. Sinner will face the always dangerous Sebastian Korda.

Jannik Sinner at 2021 Monte-Carlo

The day will also see other seeded players making their debut, including defending champion Andrey Rublev, who is the 6th seed. He faces a tough challenge in his title defense, starting off against Alexei Popyrin.

Stefanos Tsitsipas (12th seed) will play his second-round match against clay specialist Tomas Martin Etcheverry, who emerged victorious in the South American clash against Nicolas Jarry. Holger Rune takes on Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal.

The 4th seed Daniil Medvedev returns to clay, this time facing Gael Monfils, a surface that he has admitted doesn't suit him well. However, he managed to clinch the title at the Masters 1000 Italian Open in 2023 despite his challenges on clay.

The day will also feature Casper Ruud making his debut against Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, Alex de Minaur facing Tallon Griekspoor, and recent Miami Open finalist Grigor Dimitrov taking on Miomir Kecmanovic.
