The stars of the ATP will have to transition back to clay after the grass season concludes at Wimbledon, with several tennis players traveling to Gstaad, Switzerland for the Swiss Open Gstaad tournament.
An ATP 250 event, the Swiss Open Gstaad is scheduled to run from July 15-21, 2024. Swiss legend Roger Federer was presented a cow during a homecoming ceremony at the 2003 edition of the event, following the national hero's triumph at Wimbledon that year. The tournament will see 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams compete for their respective titles.
Alex de Minaur, Hubert Hurkacz and Nicolas Jarry have all been withdrawn from the field after Wimbledon with many entering this tournament depending on their run at SW19. The Australian reached the Quarter-Finals but handed a walkover to Novak Djokovic after a hip issue and so is now a doubt for the Olympic Games.
While Hurkacz got injured also against Arthur Fils and Nicolas Jarry suffered an early loss and was suffering with injury before the tournament began. So as a result Stefanos Tsitsipas leads the field alongside Ugo Humbert and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Jan-Lennard Struff and Matteo Berrettini also lead the field for the first tournaments after Wimbledon which take place in the weeks prior to the Olympic Games. For a lot of players the shift back onto clay after Wimbledon is a maze to get around so it will be interesting to see how they approach it.
