Alexander Zverev is a polarising figure within tennis with some unable to get past the off court issues that he has encountered in the past but according to Eurosport pundits and experts, he has the backing of many in his Australian Open final quest.

Zverev is playing right now in the Australian Open final where he takes on Jannik Sinner and it will either be a third Grand Slam title for the Italian in literally one year or it will be the first ever for Zverev.

Novak Djokovic is in Zverev's corner backing him for glory and Rachel Stringer of Eurosport believes that most players in the locker room see it as Zverev's time at the Grand Slams.

"Jannik there knows that Zverev has the backing of Novak Djokovic which is probably a sign of their great friendship," Stringer said.

"It seems like it’s not just Novak who thinks also thinks that. A lot of players in and around the dressing room also believe that maybe this year is Zverev’s time."

A point also echoed by Barbara Schett with the former World No.7 saying that the backing of Djokovic is one thing but that everyone backstage is talking about him getting close to his first ever Grand Slam.

For reference, he has won an Olympic gold medal, Masters 1000 titles aplenty and two ATP Finals but the only missing piece on his resume is in fact a Grand Slam title and with Madison Keys upsetting the apple cart yesterday, it could be Sascha's time today.

"Yes, I think everybody has been talking about it. That he’s the one player who deserves a Grand Slam title," said Schett.

"He got so close a couple of times and it’s nice to actually hear that from your peers, that they believe in you. If you have somebody like Novak Djokovic backing it up, that’s even better."
