Alcaraz does it again! Spaniard eliminates defending champ Hurkacz to reach Miami final

The legend of Carlos Alcaraz continues to grow, as the Spanish teenager ousted defending champion Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets to reach the final of the 2022 Miami Open.

Having already displayed some amazing performances in his run to the semifinal, the 18-year old outdid himself in his thrilling battle with Hurkacz. Alcaraz prevailed in a 7-6(5) 7-6(2) encounter that saw both men leave it all on the court.

The first set saw no breaks of serve, although Alcaraz did create two break points. However, the 14th seed was unable to capitalize on any of them, leading to a close tiebreak that was decided by a single point in the Spaniard's favor.

With neither man willing to yield, the second set went the same way as the first. This time it was the defending champion who wasted two break points, leading up to another tiebreak. It was here that Alcaraz dominated play, obtaining a minibreak before closing out the match after just over two hours.

After becoming the second youngest Miami Open finalist at 18 years 11 months (Rafael Nadal, 18 years 10 months), Alcaraz must defeat Norwegian Casper Ruud in Sunday's final to claim his first ATP Masters 1000 title.
