Carlos Alcaraz passed the first set in Barcelona today taking down Munar 6-3 6-3 and now he awaits either Dimitrov or Tsitsipas in the 2nd match of the day.
Rain created a lot of trouble for both organizers, fans and players in Barcelona as players will be forced to play two matches today. One of those potential matchups is Carlos Alcaraz against Stefanos Tsitsipas, the first after their brutal US Open matchup. Alcaraz did his part in taking down Munar and now he awaits either Tsitsipas or Dimitrov.
The blueprint Alcaraz used to come back against Munar in Rio a couple of months ago worked today as well. He dominated play from the baseline with his superior power and aggression. He took an early break and finished off the first set with 6-3. More of that was on display in the 2nd set as Alcaraz dominated play from the baseline.
He attacked the 2nd serve with great efficiency and that gave him an early lead in the 2nd set as well. Things settled down a bit after that with both players playing well and focusing on their won serve. Alcaraz added another break later on to finish it off with 6-3 6-3. He is set to face either Dimitrov or Tsitsipas later today.
