Paula Badosa took on her great friend Ons Jabeur in the Stuttgart quarterfinals and she was able to outlast her 6-7(9) 1-6 6-3.
It was a proper battle between two good friends who know each other really well but it was Badosa who calls clay her favourite surface that proved better. the match saw many twists and turns and both players were well prepared for what the other would try to do and knew how to counter it. Badosa took an early 2-0 lead. Then Jabeur took over taking a 3-2 lead but lost her serve once more for the 3-3 score.
Then it was 5-3 for Jabeur and she served for the set at 5-4 but lost her serve. She broke Badosa once more for the 6-5 lead and served once more but lost her serve again. The tiebreak was a mad one where both had chances to win. Jabeur had two sets points but it was Badosa who used her 3rd to get it done 11-9.
The 2nd set was a set where Badosa struggled with some lower leg issues and Jabeur completely smashed her 6-1 with the Spaniard unable to move as well. In the early goings of the final set, Badosa took a MTO to receive a massage and it made a lot of difference. She started to move well again and eventually finished off the job with 6-3.
