Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz cemented his place in round four
of
Wimbledon 2023 with a hard-fought win.
The current world number one ended up winning the match with
a score of 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 against Chile’s
Nicolas Jarry on Saturday.
Alcaraz started the match in a dominant manner as he secured
a comfortable win in the opening set. He ended up winning 65 percent of service
points.
In the second set, Chile’s tennis star made a grand comeback
and secure a win on tiebreaker. While doing so, Jarry produced 15 winners, five
more than his opponent.
The third set was more of a replica of the first set where
Alcaraz was just too hot and far more disciplined compared to his opponent. He
ended up committing just five unforced errors, eight fewer than his rival on the
day.
In the fourth set, Jarry
started brightly and at one stage was leading 3-0. However, Alcaraz made a
grand comeback and secured a win with a score of 7-5.
The victory equals Alcaraz’s best-ever record while playing
at Wimbledon of playing in the fourth round.
