Carlos Alcaraz finished number one on the ATP side of things with Iga Swiatek finishing number one on the WTA side of things but the Spaniard wants to emulate her even further.
Swiatek did many great things this year winning two grand slams and several other major trophies. Alcaraz won a grand slam as well but he wants to follow Swiatek in more success as he keenly followed how dominant she was this year. In a talk with Gulf media, Alcaraz admitted that he wishes to be like the Polish superstar:
“I see her year has been incredible, she broke a record I think for the longest winning streak (this century). It’s amazing."
“I wish to be like her, to not lose the No. 1. But I think it’s almost impossible. I’m going to lose it but the point is to recover it and stay there at No. 1 as much as I can."
Similar to Swiatek, Alcaraz also has a sports psychologist with whom he talks every week which is also a similar trait they share. Both are very open and proud of that:
“I talk to her every week. She talks to me about how he’s doing, how he’s practicing and all the things we’ve been talking about that he went through after the US Open, we’re trying to handle all the package, so she’s working very well."
