Another brilliant match was played between Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime with the German getting the win in Vienna.
The last time they played was at Wimbledon and that match went the full distance seeing Auger-Aliassime as the winner. This time around it was the German who got his revenge in a match where both players had chances to win the match. The first set was an unbelievable one that feature stellar play by both. Auger-Aliassime was very impressive on his own serve and the only reason why he lost the set was the level of Zverev.
The German was even better than Auger-Aliassime on his serve winning all his first-serve points (9/9). He only hit 41 % of his first serves which makes the set win even more impressive considering he only lost two points on his 2nd serve at all. He converted one of two break points while allowing zero in a set where he served rather poorly. Very impressive.
Auger-Aliassime was not done however with the Canadian storming back furiously in the 2nd set. Zverev has lost a couple of 2nd sets in Vienna this week and most of that came down to rather bad play as the German himself explained. It happened to him again in this match although he did not play too badly. The level of Auger-Aliassime was just too good as the Canadian did not allow a single break point while converting the only he had.
The final set featured more good play by both but Zverev was clearly the better player. He had all the answers on his serve winning rallies rather easily while also attacking Auger-Aliassime on his 2nd serve with great success. He won 9 of 12 points on the 2nd serve of the Canadian and that was more than enough to win the final one with 6-3.
