Simona Halep is running over everything in her path towards the Cluj-Napoca trophy with another impressive win coming today against Cristian 6-1 6-1.
Simona Halep has not had a very satisfying 2021 campaign so her fans will be delighted to see her playing as well as she is currently playing in her native Romanian. The best tennis star is in Cluj-Napoca and for the 2nd time in a few days she faced off against a compatriot with today's opponent being Jacqueline Cristian. Halep had some back issues in the previous round but today none of that was visible as she smashed her opponent with ease.
From the start, it was apparent that this would be a very brief match because Halep had all the answers against her opponent. Cristian tends to play very hard-hitting and aggressive but when presented with a better version of her playstyle she simply did not know what to do. Halep racked up very quick breaks in the first set and she soon finished off the set with 6-1.
The 2nd set was a carbon copy of the first set was we had the same result with it only lasting one minute more. Cristian once again struggled to keep up with Halep from the baseline while Simona was in the zone. Striking the ball cleanly she attacked every 2nd serve of Cristian with great success. She won 15 of 20 2nd service points in the match and that proved more than enough.
She finds herself in the semifinal of an event in her native Romanian with a chance to win the trophy. The last time that happened was back in 2016 and she will want to change that.
