Alexander Zverev is a self-described sports fan and the German took some time to visit the New York Mets.
Baseball is not a sport that is popular in Europe however self-described Alexander Zverev did not mind attending a baseball game as he prepares for the US Open in New York. Zverev visited the Citi Field stadium which is in close proximity to the Billie Jean King Tennis Centre where the US Open is traditionally played.
During the visit, Zverev exchanged his racquet for a Mets jersey with his name on it and talked with New York Mets manager Luis Rojas. Zverev also met and spent some time with superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor who is one of the best players on the Mets.
The 24-year old then watched the game between the Mets and San Francisco Giants before making his way back across the street to continue preparation for the US Open. Zverev is hoping a recent surge in the form will propel him further than last year when he lost in the final of the US Open against Dominic Thiem.
