Alexander Zverev played his first match at Roland Garros following the injury and he did really well breaking down his opponent in three sets 7-6(6) 7-6(0) 6-1.
Zverev's last match at Roland Garros saw him break his ankle and miss the rest of the year. The return to Roland Garros was very emotional for Zverev who certainly showed some timidness at times in the match. He also needed to work really hard to win the match because his opponent played really well in the first two sets.

First set

The first set finished in a tiebreak after neither player was able to break the opponent. Zverev had to save a few break points late in the set but he held on to win the set in the tiebreak. He didn't play as well from the baseline but his serve proved quite crucial down the stretch.

Second set

The second set also went to a tiebreak and once again Zverev had to save some break points. He even saved set points late in the set only to break in the next game 6-5. He couldn't serve it out getting broken for the first time in the match but rallied in the tiebreak 7-0. He once again relied on his serve when his baseline game stalled.

Final set

The final set was the set that he finally played as well as he can. He was hitting his shots from the baseline with the serve doing damage as well. The South African couldn't stay with him and bowed out rather quickly from the match 1-6. A solid win for Zverev who can play much better and hopefully will moving forward.
