The final days of any year are known as awards season with many international and regional awards taking place. One such was held in Germany where Alexander Zverev got a very important accolade. Germany is a huge country with a lot of top athletes which is something Zverev highlighted as well during an interview after the awards. That is why it was a huge honor for him to be named the German Sportsman of the Year 2021.
Zverev had a tremendous year on the tennis court winning the gold medal for Germany among other things. He also added a couple of Masters events albeit he is yet to win his maiden grand slam event. Many believe Zverev will get in 2022 and the German seems to agree with their statement. Even without it, he was able to win the highly prestigious award.
Zverev was humble while accepting the award noting that it's a night to celebrate German sports in general and he was very happy to have been named the best among them.
