Ekaterina Alexandrova and Barbora Krejcikova advanced to the Linz semifinal after straight-set victories on Friday.
The first quarterfinal in Linz was played between Krejcikova and Sasnovich. The Czech player has been a steady performer ever since her good run at the Roland Garros and today she continued with her winning ways. She played an aggressive style of play especially on Sasnovich's second serve where she won 13 out of 15 points. All of that was more than enough to win the opening set 6-3. The 2nd set was even more impressive from Krejcikova who completely dominated Sasnovich winning the 2nd set 6-1.
The 2nd semifinal was a good one between Podoroska and Alexandrova. The Argentinian came back yesterday against Giorgi but today she could not replicate the same level so Alexandrova had a rather easy day at the office. She won in less 60 minutes with 6-2 6-1. From the start, it looked like Podoroska didn't have the same level as she did yesterday with Alexandrova winning points and rallies rather easily. The opening set was a quick one with the Russian winning 6-2. The 2nd set opened a bit better for Podoroska as she seemed to believe in her chances but that optimism quickly faltered when Alexandrova took her first break. After that Podoroska just quit and the Russian cruised to a 6-1 2nd set victory.
