A beauty of a backhand 🤌 No. 8 seed @daniel_altmaier fights past Huesler in Kitzbuhel 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4 and next faces Daniel Elahi Galan! #GeneraliOpen
While the DC Open Washington sees the hard court season in full swing again ahead of the US Open, there are little sparks of European Clay Court action still on the go at the Generali Open Kitzbuhel.
Daniel Altmaier continues the best run of his career so far with a breakout 2023. He saw off Marc-Andrea Huesler 2-1 in sets which saw a scoreline of 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 in just over two hours.
Stats wise, he crafted 68% first serve percentage and won 82% of points off the back of that as well as saving 3/4 break points. Huesler on the other hand couldn't save any.
Laslo Djere after reaching the final in Hamburg continues to produce on clay. He saw off Christopher O'Connell also in straight sets.
This saw a 6-4, 7-6 victory for the World No.38 in just under two hours. Dominic Thiem is the main attraction today with the home hope set to get his campaign underway on Tuesday evening.
