Tennis fans are shattered after the news of Amazon's intention to stop broadcasting tennis on their service Prime Video.
The deal between Tennis and Amazon began in 2019 with the provider giving fans a chance to watch tennis matches in a high quality but that is set to end at the start of the 2024 season. As reported by The Times, Sky Sports is looking to enter the market and replace Amazon Prime after their contract expires in a year.
Fans were left visibly disappointed due to news with many voicing concern on social media:
"Genuinely don’t think a worse piece of news has ever hit this country" wrote one fan.
"Prime have made the tennis tour the most accessible it's been in my lifetime, having grown up in a household without sky sports. this is beyond disappointing after all their efforts to unite wta and atp coverage - hope whoever buys the rights has @cwhitakersport at the forefront" - wrote another.
Check out some more reactions below:
"This is dreadful news. Amazon have been excellent. I don’t mind if Sky gets it (or,unlikely, BT). As long as @RobKoenigTennis and @nicklester are still doing their stuff."
"Terrible, terrrrrible news. Prime were a great platform for broadcasting tennis. But yeah lets continue making sports even more inacessable by moving to Sky."
