A 4th final this season 👊 @AndreyRublev97 has one eye on the race to the #NittoATPFinals!
Andrey Rublev played in another semi-final this week but unlike Astana where he lost, here he was able to get the win over Thiem 6-4 6-4.
It was a rather straightforward match for Rublev who was good enough to win the match in straight sets as Thiem simply was unable to match the intensity of the Russian. It was a solid match overall but Rublev proved better once more against Thiem who has now lost three times in a row to the Russian.
The Russian took an early break against Thiem 3-1 and from there focused mostly on his serve and keeping Thiem away from any chances. It worked for a while but Rublev got broke at 5-3 when serving for the set. Thiem had a huge chance to completely shift momentum to his side but failed as the Russian escaped with the first set 6-4.
The second seed was heavily contested as both played well and neither was able to create much pressure but Rublev did had a break point midway through but was unable to use it. Rublev set himself up to pressure Thiem quite a bit at 5-4 and he was able to carve out a break point.
They were match points as well and while the Austrian saved two the third went Rublev's way as he booked the final.
