Andrey Rublev quietly secured a semifinal spot in
Indian Wells with a string of strong performances including the 7-5 6-2 win over
Grigor Dimitrov.
The Russian has been playing well all fortnight long yet his play was overshadowed by other players performing well this week. Rublev doesn't mind as he was able to keep his focus on the court and that worked very well for him. It worked once more against Dimitrov whom the Russian bested in two sets. Rublev jumped out to an early lead in the match and looked comfortable on the court.
Dimitrov overcame a slow start in the match to break Rublev just as he was about to close the first set. It didn't matter much as the Russian upped his level once more to break Dimitrov once more sealing the first set with 7-5.
Things went even better for Rublev in the 2nd set as the Russian completely outplayed Dimitrov who fell apart mentally. It's a quite common pattern for the Bulgarian who once again buckled under pressure. Rublev kept his composure and swiftly finished it off with 6-2. The strong season continues for Rublev who is racking up trophies and wins.
