We saw a battle of former Serbia Open finalists in Banja Luka as last year's champion
Andrey Rublev took on the finalist from the year before that
Alex Molcan and the former won 6-2 6-4.
Rublev is the defacto defending champion of this event having won the Serbia Open last year when the event was held in Belgrade. He made it to the final again after beating Alex Molcan in two sets though the match was not without complication. Rublev admitted yesterday that he didn't play the best tennis but got the win.
The sentiment today is rather similar as he once again didn't play the best match but still was able to get the win. The first set went 6-2 to Rublev who was able to take advantage of a rather funky start by Molcan. The Russian player the crucial rallies far better which is why he took the set though Molcan had five breaks point that he wasted in that set.
The second one saw Rublev take the break first once again but he would give it back not long after that because Molcan kept pushing and eventually broke back. He would lose his serve in the next game again to give Rublev the lead but then would break back once again to make it 4-4. Rublev pushed once more and got another break and finally, this time around got it done to advance to the final.
