5th Masters 1000 semi-final: Booked 🎟️ 2021 runner-up @AndreyRublev97 defeats Struff 6-1 7-6(5) to keep the dream of a maiden crown alive in Monte Carlo! #RolexMonteCarloMasters
Andrey Rublev played a really solid match to take out Jan-Lennard Struff at the Monte-Carlo Masters booking yet another semi-final at the event.
The Russian lost his serve in the first game which seemed quite in line with how Struff's matches have been going on this week. The German has been able to do quite extraordinary things during this event but when he gave the break right back it looked like things were settling nicely for Rublev. It looked even better when he proceeded to smash the German in the first set 6-1.
The second set was a bit more competitive due to Rublev not being able to really control his emotions all too well. He made too many mistakes by simply rushing instead of patiently waiting for his chance. Even after breaking Struff midway through the set, he couldn't hold it. The German did play better overall but not that dramatically.
The final set ended in a tiebreak with Rublev sealing the deal with a shallow return that caught Struff off guard.
