Former Spanish tennis star Alex Corretja believes that
Britain’s Andy Murray has achieved ‘everything’ he dreamt of in his career. The
37-year-old is often regarded as the greatest British player in the singles category of men’s tennis history.
Former world number two Corretja, who is also a two-time French
Open runner-up, was recently quoted in a report in which he heaped praise on Murray, who, according to him, is his ‘younger brother’. The 50-year-old also highlighted how the Glasgow-born star managed to win everything that he ever dreamed of.
“Andy is someone who is very special to me,” he said. “I
consider him like a little brother. I remember when we first met and how open
he was to learn and improve. We had a very honest conversation and I said ‘What
is your dream?’ and he just said he wanted to become the No. 1 in the world, I
want to win Slams and I want to do something big. I also remember he said to me
once that 'I want to win the Davis Cup'. He then went and made it. He pretty
much made all of his goals, he was someone very determined in his ideas, he was
convinced when he wanted something.”
Murray has struggled with fitness concerns throughout his
career. Because of this, back in 2018, he announced his retirement from tennis after the Australian Open. However, he returned to the court soon after and continued to play for many years. This year, the former world number one announced that he would consider retirement after Wimbledon and the Paris
Olympics.

Recently, Murray announced that the Paris Olympics would be his last and that he would not participate in the singles category.
