Andy Murray to compete at Rennes Challenger next week

Andy Murray is returning to action next week in Rennes at the challenger event after accepting a wild card entry into the event.

Murray who is looking to build up some form after his epic match at the US Open accepted a wild card entry into a challenger event in Rennes next week. Murray will join a field of players consisting of notable veteran players Gilles Simon and Richard Gasquet, other notable players such as Rinderknech and Pouille. The event will run from September 13th to September 19th.

It will mark the first time Murray will be back on the court since his epic match against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the US Open. Murray spent the days after the loss trolling Tsitsipa and pushing the narrative about the toilet breaks especially with the Greek's insistence on doing it again and again. Murray did not offer any comment on his decision but the event's sporting director said:

"We are very happy with this last-minute surprise, materialised under the leadership of its sporting director Nicolas Mahut. It is an exceptional opportunity that we did not want to pass up - to attract one of the greatest names of this sport."
