Another long match for
Andy Murray ended with another solid win as the British player took down
Alexander Zverev in three sets 7-6(5) 2-6 7-5 after a 3-hour battle.
Murray was expected to give Zverev some trouble here because the German himself hasn't been playing that well lately but it was a pretty close affair. The first set went well over an hour finishing in a tiebreak which Murray won 7-5. Zverev was up a break twice in that set even serving for the set but he didn't get it done.
It was a pretty consistent set but Zverev was the more aggressive player hitting twice as many winners but he also had a lot more errors. A few too many. The second set was one where the German outplayed Murray comfortably. He served well and smashed the Brit from the baseline with 12 winners compared to Murray's 8.
The final set was another one that went over an hour albeit not as long as the first one. Zverev played it really well as his serve was working and the groundstrokes were not far behind. Murray barely hung on early in the set when the German was playing well but towards the end, he got a very bad one from Zverev and that proved key.
