Andy Murray hopes to be a seed at the US Open and he has a decent shot at it thanks to a Montreal wild card that will allow him to play some matches in Canada.
Murray suffered a huge setback in his pursuit for a seed spot in New York when he lost to Mikael Ymer in Washington but the Brit was adamant after the match that it was still possible. He spoke to the media admitting:
“It’s still possible. I would just need to have a good run in Canada or Cincinnati really. It’s pretty straightforward if I was to make a quarter-final or a semi-final, which right now — after a loss like that — doesn’t seem realistic. I do feel like if I play very well that I could do that. But I’ll need to certainly play better than I did today.”
As Murray noted himself he missed a huge chance in Washington in a lesser draw however he can still do it but it will be much tougher at the Masters. Murray is a 3x champion in Canada so he certainly knows how to win there but he's not on that level anymore. He will play in Montreal though with a wild card avoiding the qualifiers.
