Andy Roddick predicts big future for Joao Fonseca before Australian Open

Former world number one Andy Roddick believes Brazil’s Joao Fonseca will be amongst one of the best players in men’s tennis in the next two to three years. The 18-year-old is already regarded as one for the future and has already produced some impressive performances in the recent past.

Former world number one Roddick has been recently quoted in a report where he talked about Fonseca. The one-time Grand Slam winner was not only full of praise for the Rio de Janeiro-born but also believed that the youngster has all the potential to be amongst the best players in the world in men’s tennis in the singles category in the next three years.

"I'm a big fan of Rublev, who is a very strong player and a very good guy,” he said. “However, Fonseca's name is increasingly in vogue and everyone is talking about it. I think he will become one of the top favorites to win Grand Slam tournaments within the next 2-3 years."

Fonseca has recently qualified for the main round of a Grand Slam for the first time. He secured his place in the main draw of the Australian Open after beating Argentina’s Thiago Agustin Tirante in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-1. He is set to face a tough opponent in Russia’s Andrey Rublev in the first round of the competition. The first major competition of 2025 will begin on January 12, and players from all over the world will participate to showcase their talent at the highest level and secure the ultimate prize.
