ATP admin made a glaring error on social media platform during
the coverage of the
Barcelona Open. The ATP 500 event is edging closer to its
completion after the semifinal lineup was completed on Friday.
Admin on the social media platform X — previously known as
Twitter — page of the ATP made a glaring error by sharing a collage of four
semifinalists. However, it seems the admin uploaded the wrong collage. The picture
featured French young tennis star
Arthur Fils as one of the four semifinalists
but he is not on the actual list of semifinalists as he lost to Serbia’s Dusan
Lajovic in the quarterfinal with a score 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Unsurprisingly, the picture was deleted. Lajovic is set to face
Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last-four contest who booked his place after
beating Facundo Diaz Acosta of Argentina with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 7-6. The other semifinal will be played between Norway’s Casper
Ruud and Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The former world number two
defeated Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi in the quarterfinal in straight sets with a
score of 6-4, 6-3. On the other hand, Martin Etcheverr booked his place in the last four after beating Britain’s Cameron Norrie in straight sets with a score
of 7-6, 7-6.
