Yesterday was an eventful day in Cordoba where the Spaniards once again showed they are the kings of clay. Today there will be four matches played but only one Spaniard will be on the clay courts.
His name is Carlos Tabernar and he will play against Andrey Martin a veteran who loves playing on the surface. Taberner entered the draw through the qualifiers so he has already had time to accustom himself in surroundings which should make him the favorite.
The 6th seed Pablo Cuevas will be on the court as well as he is set to play against Gianluca Mager who had an easy-going in the previous round. He will look to build upon that result and advance past a tricky Cuevas. After that match, we will have the best match of the day between Mouter and Pella.
The Frenchman had a good showing on the hard courts in Australia and now he will look to reciprocate the same results on the clay courts. He will have a tough job against Pella who loves playing at home and on hard courts. It should be a spectacle either way.
The day will be closed by Garin and Balasz. The Hungarian is a late bloomer who is playing his best tennis after entering the 4th decade of his life. Garin, on the other hand, is a young Chilean who is slowly making his way into the top tier of tennis. He loves clay courts and he will be the clear-cut favourite against Balasz who isn't used to this level of competition.
