The 2022 Hamburg Open will be the 116th edition of this legendary event running from July 18th till July 24th with
Carlos Alcaraz,
Andrey Rublev and Diego Schwartzman.
It's that time of year again, tennis is back in Hamburg and we'll have the 116th edition of the event. It's an ATP 500 event hence the strong field and it will run from July 18th till July 24th when the final will be played. Pablo Carreno Busta won the event last year and he'll return this year to try and defend his trophy however it will be tough.
The top seed is Carlos Alcaraz and he'll start off against wild card recipient Nicola Kuhn. After that, he might face Sebastian Baez who will play in the Bastad Open final tomorrow. Pablo Carreno Busta starts off against a qualifier with Alex Molcan possibly waiting for him in round two.
Andrey Rublev is the 2nd seed and he won this event in 2021. For him, it will be
Alexander Bublik in the opening round. Some other interesting matchups include Davidovich Fokina against Botic van der Zandschulp and Karatsev - Basilashvili.
That last one is a curious one as these two players were accused of match-fixing about a week ago which makes this round one pairing rather fascinating.
