The
draw has been confirmed for the 2024
Argentina Open Buenos Aires (IEB+ Argentina Open for sponsorship reasons) which is due to take place between 12-18 February 2024.
It represents
Carlos Alcaraz' return after his disappointing end at the Australian Open against Alexander Zverev in a tournament to forget in Melbourne. But he moves onto a surface that he has had great success in the past and initially made his name in these set of tournaments.
Given the field too, it is strong. But over the next few weeks, he should be expected to pick up at least a few titles with many of the big names playing in Europe or preparing for the Middle East.
Cameron Norrie is second seed and other top names include
Nicolas Jarry and Francisco Cerundolo. A lot of carryover from the Cordoba Open apart from the addition of a few more well-known faces. Others will play in Delray Beach and Rotterdam over the next week.
But Alcaraz fresh with his new skin fade haircut will aim to make tracks in Argentina and pick up a first title of the year. A tactic pre Australian Open was to skip tournaments to benefit from South American clay, now it is time to see whether that gamble will help or hinder his season.
