The ATP announced the creation of the ‘ATP No.1 Club,’ which for the first time in over 50 years of the Open Era will bring together all world No. 1 players from the past, present, and future. The initiative was launched at the 2024 ATP Finals, featuring the three participants in the tournament who have reached the top in their careers: Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev.
The ATP No. 1 Club will unite the 29 players who have reached world No. 1 across all generations. From Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe to the Big 3 with Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, and of course, Alcaraz and Sinner, they are among the 29 stars now part of the club. Each No. 1 player will receive exclusive benefits, including invitations to signature events, promotional opportunities, and more.
All players will be honored at a showpiece event at the 2025 ATP Finals in Turin. In a video shared by the ATP, Alcaraz, Sinner, and Medvedev spoke about what it means to join a club filled with legends. “Nothing compares to achieving the World No.1 ranking. It’s what you strive for as a tennis player – to be the best, to have no one above you,” Alcaraz said.
“Becoming No. 1 is a childhood dream. It’s an honor to sit among the greats of our sport as part of the No.1 Club, each one of us bringing something unique to the game,” said current No. 1 Jannik Sinner.
“Very few players have managed to reach the No.1 spot. You need to be able to play at the highest level, week after week. That’s what makes the No.1 Club so special – it’s an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate everything we’ve accomplished,” Daniil Medvedev added.
Andrea Gaudenzi, Chairman of the ATP, spoke about the initiative: “Reaching the summit of the rankings is the ultimate achievement in our sport. Only 29 players have had what it takes to secure the No.1 spot – not only striking talent but a level of resilience, self-belief, and devotion that is admired far beyond the realm of tennis,” he said.
“The ATP No.1 Club is a celebration of the spectacular ways these players have shaped the game. And, with fans at the heart of everything we do, it creates an entertainment spectacle aimed at bringing them closer than ever before to the players they love.”
