Tennis coaches are a vital part of the game of tennis with many having a very positive effect on the careers of their players.
Choosing the right coach can be a very tricky decision but it's one that potentially can alter a career. Many times in tennis we saw what a great partnership can do and it's very good if players have a coach in place that they know is the right one. Five ATP players have had a superb year in 2021 and their coaches are often credited for the success.
The Coach of the Year award is voted on by fellow coaches and it's reserved for the ATP coach who helped guide his players to a higher level of performance during the year. Many of these players reached the highest level of their careers and their coaches have been nominated for it. First on the list is Craig Boynton who helped guide Hurkacz to his best ranking ever. The Pole also earned a place at the ATP Finals, winning his maiden Masters trophy as well.
The 2nd coach on the list is Gilles Cervara, the longtime coach of Daniil Medvedev whom he finally guided to his maiden grand slam win. The partnership is strong as ever and won't end anytime soon. The 3rd coach on the list is Juan Carlos Ferrero, a known commodity in the world of tennis who is patiently guiding Carlos Alcaraz to stardom. Facundo Lugones is a very good friend of Cameron Norrie who has become his coach in the meantime.
The dup have done tremendous work this season with Norrie making a huge progress nearly entering the top 10 for the first time. He also won Indian Wells so that's an added bonus. The final name of the list is Christian Ruud who is the father of Casper Ruud. His son became the most successful Norwegian tennis player ever this year replacing his father.
