World No.9 Felix Auger-Aliassime has been forced to withdraw from the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships this week, due to a back injury.
The Canadian has been in spectacular form this season, winning his maiden ATP title in Rotterdam two weeks ago before finishing runner-up at Marseille on Sunday. His stellar form has seen him break into the top-ten reaching a career-high ranking in the process.
Auger-Aliassime had been struggling with an unspecified back problem, which was made evident by his limited movement towards the end of the final in Marseille. However, he is yet to release an official statement.
The 21-year old was seeded third in Dubai and has been replaced in the draw by lucky loser Alexei Popyrin of Australia. Auger-Aliassime is now 15-4 for the year having enjoyed a strong start that included a quarterfinal showing at the Australian Open. This follows a run to the US Open last four at the tail-end of 2021.
