Arthur Fils has done it! The 20-year-old Frenchman has toppled the top seed Alexander Zverev to seal his spot in the Quarter-Finals of the 2025 Miami Open.

Fils saw off the top seed Zverev 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in Florida a day after the match was originally set to be played. The Frenchman originally was set to face Zverev on Tuesday but bizarrely around this time yesterday, it was called off.

This after inclement rain had stopped play at the Miami Open for some time and so it was shifted onto today's schedule leaving a myriad of Quarter-Final ties surrounding a Last 16 tie yet to be completed.

But Fils who has had an excellent time ironically since parting ways with his coach Sebastian Grosjean who brought him much of his success will now face another rising starlet as part of the Next Gen tomorrow.

That player being Jakub Mensik who has had a few days technically to chill and recover. He was due to face Tomas Machac on Tuesday but the match didn't happen as his compatriot withdrew with illness so Mensik was always set to face the winner of this tie tomorrow.

So one of two players will make a maiden Masters 1000 semi-final. It is a big opportunity with only Novak Djokovic who faces Sebastian Korda tonight really left in terms of huge names. Grigor Dimitrov faces Francisco Cerundolo while Taylor Fritz takes on Matteo Berrettini tomorrow. So in reality the winner of FIls v Mensik is in a great position.

It is back-to-back Masters 1000 Quarter-Finals in both Indian Wells and Miami for Fils and is a sixth career top 10 win and a first in 2025. While for Zverev, it ends a pretty torrid few weeks.

He lost early at Indian Wells and didn't capitalise on Sinner's ban during the Golden Swing so sits nowhere closer to World No.1 and going back to the drawing board ahead of clay.
